Americans living in Paris since 2016, CheyAnne and her husband Doug who lead the team, have the advantage of knowing Paris like true local insiders whilst speaking English. The aim is for you to enjoy a fun moment as you immerse yourself into the romantic atmosphere of the "City of Love".

Beyond the session, the team delights in sharing all their tips and advice for your stay. Their blog and Youtube Channel is filled with excellent up to date travel ressources : where to stay in Paris, where to eat in Paris, what to see in Paris, what to do in Paris... They even have a section dedicated to family travel. 

Cherry on top, their office manager is located in the US making the booking and pre photo session planning smooth and easy.

Last but not least, they have the sweetest dog and a grumpy, pudgy cat and share their adventures all around Paris on social media allowing you to keep enjoying the pleasures of Paris long after your stay.

It's also good to know that the team take pictures of individuals, couples and elopements. Imagine how special it would be for your child to be pictured by L'Amour as a toddler and decades later during her honeymoon in Paris and who knows maybe with her own family one day. The team wears their name wonderfully, it's not just pictures but love they share and celebrate!

THE PHOTO SESSION PROCESS

We generally book our sessions 6-8 months in advance. If you know your dates further out, it's ok to reach out and get on our radar. When you're ready to book, please send us an inquiry from our contact form and any special notes we should know about your family in advance.

Our office manager will check the calendar and help you secure your booking with your signed contract and payment. She will also send a questionnaire in the first steps to ensure that we have a solid idea of what you wish most for your session. This also helps with knowing your preferred locations and session length.

A couple weeks before the session she sends out your meet up instructions and contact info for your photographer. In the interim, we will also share some good tips to make your session a success! 

BEST TIPS FOR A FAMILY PHOTO SESSION IN PARIS BY CHEYANNE

Let's see...the biggest thought that comes to mind first is to make sure you're dressed for the season, and by that I do mean Paris seasons. It's not uncommon for the weather to still be in the 50's in the early morning hours, even as we get into June, and sometimes even July.

Ensuring that the kids are not cold is a big part of their happiness for photos. We suggest tights for their toes to be covered, and consider working in a sweater if it's needed. In the colder months, consider cute outerwear that can again be worn or taken off if the weather permits.

Second, do your very best to get a good night's sleep the night before. We know it's an early wake up call, but it is soooo worth it!

Another essential tip is to embrace what I call "perfectly imperfect." Kiddos have a mind and temperament all of their own. Things won't always go exactly as planned, but we will get good photos! Be prepared for the unexpected, and I promise we'll make the most of whatever the morning brings! 

ABOUT CHEYANNE

Favorite places in Paris : I feel like I have many...I love strolling around most of Paris. The city is gorgeous. I especially love it in the early morning hours when I feel I have it all to myself.

I particularly enjoy the area around the Seine by Pont Neuf and the charming Place Dauphine street. You can find charming cafes there that expand their seating under the trees, amidst the Parisian architecture. It's not always full of tourists. In fact, on the weekend you can find locals playing pétanque too. 

Favorite French sayings : Comme vous voulez (as you want) and avec plaisir (with pleasure) pop into mind first. It always feels so accommodating when I hear those words, and when spoken they are said with sincerity.

Parapluie (umbrella) is one of my favorite words to say because it's simply fun! It was not fun how much we needed our parapluies this year! ;P

Favorite French foods : -- I LOVE all the pastries. I have a sweet tooth indeed. Favorite caramel éclairs from L'Eclair de Génie or French Bastards. They are both different but wonderful in their own right, and not your run of the mill eclairs either.

A proper French baguette is also high on my list. Since living in France, I can not find them made as great anywhere in the U.S. Even in France I find myself getting more particular. When you find THE baguette though, you know you've hit the jackpot!

WHAT MAKES A PHOTO SESSION WITH L'AMOUR DE PARIS UNIQUE

I would say our true passion for what we do. We are much more than artists. Beyond the goal of capturing great images, we always seek to ensure that our clients have a great experience. That experience stretches beyond our lens as Charlotte already pointed out. We enjoy passing along tips and teaching our clients little bits about French culture to help them have a great time in this country we've come to love so much.

We've also been photographers for more than 20 years now, so the photography part comes pretty natural to us and allows us to notice all the other little details that make an image great.

And we're always ready to pivot if need be due to our years as wedding photographers.
