A PARIS THEMED BIRTHDAY PARTY
Lauren and her daughter are not only fond of traditional European clothing but also have a deep love for France! What better than a Paris themed party to celebrate Cotton Leigh’s fifth birthday and announce the family’s upcoming trip to the City of Light and Love?
Read all about the beautiful Parisian inspired party and find decor, invitation, outfit and menu ideas for your own celebration.
THE OUTFIT
For the event, our Charlotte sy Dimby team designed a special Eiffel Tower dress! To make it girly and fancy it had to be pink! And we could not resist adding a bow! It matched Cotton Leigh’s hair grosgrain moonstitch hair bow from Weeones.
The hand embroidered Eiffel tower is inspired by the illustration of the artist Madeleine Hall, founder of Burlington Bear. It was created with a traditional embroidery hoop and required no less than six different thread shades to give it an almost painted effect.
This dress is a unique piece however we have other Eiffel Tower dresses available on our e-shop. See here
THE INVITATION
The invitation was designed by our Charlotte and Burlington family club with Madeleine’s Hall illustrations. Sweet and elegant with macarons, bows and the Eiffel Tower of the dress, it instantly set the tone for the party. The menu card was created in exactly the same style.

THE PARTY ITSELF
The party decor, menu and the hosting of the event were organised by Lauren. In her words :
Before sharing about the party, could you please tell us a little more about your family’s love story with Paris?
Our family's love for Paris was all led by Cotton Leigh. She has had an infatuation with the Eiffel Tower and all things Parisian since she was just two years old. It started when we first watched the movie Leap (also titled Ballerina). The movie takes place in 19th-century France and is set in the capital. This is when Cotton Leigh also found her love for ballet!
Growing up I always knew I would one day go to Paris, but when I saw her love for the city, I just knew the time had come to make that dream come true! So we decided the trip would be her 5th birthday gift! We told her on her birthday and will be going this Spring.
Can you tell us about the party decor?
What does every great Parisian party need…an 8 ft replica of the Eiffel Tower of course! It made for an excellent focal point in our living room. Beautiful flowers lined our mantle to add a nice backdrop for the tower.
All the rest was in Ladurée shades, pastel pink, mint green and a touch of gold. We filled the gorgeous Ladurée bags with flowers and had little golden frames with Eiffel towers, macarons and the such.
Can you describe the menu?
The sweets and treats had to be authentic to the theme. So we had macarons flown in from Ladurée Beverly Hills, California sent from Paris, which are *chefs kiss* oh so good! We also had éclairs, croissants and madeleines from a local bakery.
A beautiful custom made cake was created by Jona at Gracie Cole Sweets & Treats. Cotton Leigh knew exactly what she wanted : she wished a pink cake with an Eiffel Tower on top! And so it was! We also ordered darling cookies with icing replicating the dress’ embroidery.
And was the party like itself?
Cotton Leigh was fully involved in the party preparation. She loved helping to plan it all! She knew a dress was in the works, and that it had the Eiffel Tower on it, but other than that, the dress itself was a surprise. We gave it to her on her birthday - a few days prior to the party, and she immediately hugged it! She couldn't wait to wear it to her party and show her friends! She loved that it matched her party theme so well.
All the girls had a great time just playing and laughing - seeing children enjoying themselves together, smiling at the simplest things brings so much joy to a mother's heart!
Any tips for hosting a children’s party?
Honestly this is way easier said than done, but just have fun and don't stress the little things. The kids will have the best time whether you have a more simplistic party or go all out. Obviously we as parents tend to go overboard sometimes, haha, but as long as you have friends to make you smile, and a good tasting cake, you're well on your way! Oh, and a beautiful dress from Charlotte sy Dimby of course!
